"Fritz was a loving, fun, always smiling  kinda guy.  He was a rodeo clown at many Indian rodeos throughout Indian country.  His passing was unexpected due to Covid.  Fritz will always be remembered for his sense of humor, gentle soul & his smile.  We miss him dearly."

"I lost my only sibling this year from the pandemic.
He was my rock and was only 59 years old.  He was 10 months your than me.  We were considered 'Irish Twins.'  We were so close, that I now feel so lost without him.

He served in the Air Force for 4 years, then taught himself about computers and software.  He was an IT Director at the University of Chicago when he passed, just counting off the years until retirement.

We always teased each other about who was going to push who in the wheelchair when we got older.  We never expected him to go first."

Dr. Stephen Schwartz was an American pathologist at the University of Washington. He researched vascular biology, investigating the structure of blood vessels and smooth muscle cells. He died during the COVID-19 pandemic due to complications brought on by COVID-19 on March 17, 2020 age 78.

Dr. Schwartz received a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Harvard University in 1963 and a Doctor of Medicine from Boston University in 1967. He started a residency at the University of Washington in 1967, also receiving his Ph.D. in pathology from the institution in 1973. He was the Associate Chief of Pathology at the United States Navy Medical Center from 1973 to 1974.

At the University of Washington, he was an assistant professor of pathology from 1974 to 1979, an associate professor from 1979 to 1984, and then a full professor from 1984 until his death. He was an adjunct professor in the medicine and bioengineering departments. He helped found the North American Vascular Biology Organisation, and create the Earl P. Benditt Award, which he received in 2001.

Covid 19 Memorial Bead Portraits

 The pandemic has effected so many lives, in a very drastic way, around the world.  We have felt pain in the loss of so many loved ones and seen the suffering of not just those who fell ill, but also loss in the quality of our lives, social interactions, and our local Mom and Pop shops.  As an artist, I wish to help in the healing of our world as we overcome this pandemic and honor the people and small businesses we have lost to it's death toll.

I am creating a memorial for the friends and family members we have lost to Covid, public personalities that we can no longer enjoy, and even small businesses that have been forced to close.  For this memorial, I will create a bead pattern portrait and post the primary portrait color chart to the memorial page along with any story or eulogy submitted for posting.  The complete pattern charts (color chart, labeled color chart, letter chart, bead counts and numbers) are then sent to the requesting family member.  Portrait patterns are 120 by 150 beads in brick stitch using Miyuki Delica bead colors.  All portraits will be created and posted free of charge.

My process:  Once I receive a photo for the memorial, I take the photo and remove background images, clean it up, resize, and crop it out to fit the portrait.  I then reduce color profiles and prepare the image for pixelation.  I use Corel, Gimp, and PortraitPro to complete these steps.  I then pixelate the image and transfer it to BeadTool 4.  In BeadTool 4 I hand build the portrait, using a Miyuki Delica palette.  This process can take anywhere from four to eight hours, sometimes more, but results in a beautiful and timeless portrait.  Portraits are created either in portrait or landscape rectangle, 120 beads by 150 beads, to ensure clear detail in the rendering.
